Computer blew up. Long story short I did a fresh install. Apparently a stick of my RAM burned up. Only 3 survivors left now. Better hope a tank doesn't show. Let's keep the friendly fire at a minimum, OK guys?

I don't have any of my stuff, but I've already gotten started re-installing my countless apps. Stuff is backed up but I don't have much access to it for the time being.

I liked your Brawl Geno render. What do you use to model with? (Boy, I wish I could get my hand on some 3D modelling software...)

Oh, and if you like something else better, what would you recommend? The less money involved the better

My favorite program to work with is any form of 3DS Max. Preferably 8 and above.

It's a rather expensive program, (although you can get discounts if you're a student) And you can get a demo on Autodesk's site.

Cheaper alternatives...? Uh... I know that there's programs like milkshape and another that's kind of like a free less powerful 3ds Max, but the names escape me now. Unfortunately programs like these are often lacking in features and flexibility.

I believe to pick up a copy of 3ds Max 9 it would cost around $3000?

Now I'm not sure, check Autodesk's site. But I believe that the student discount takes it down to $300.

Can't really be helped, it is after all a professional grade piece of software.

Heh, understandable. I'm lucky enough to be able to get the $1700 CS4 for 400. It's wonderful to be a student.

But it's all about investment, so if I had the money, I certainly would buy a commercial version. Though, seeing that it's not the career I'm going into and just a hobby, probably settling with a student version is good enough.
